NAIDOC WEEK 2020 #ALWAYSWASALWAYSWILLBE
"NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920's which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians." - NAIDOC
On November 13th 2020, Jarron Andy will host the first dedicated 2 hour home shopping event focusing on indigenous owned and operated businesses.
Jarron personally hand-picked the companies and products that we will be working with on this celebration. Behind the scenes Jarron has been working hard to formalise our relationship with NAIDOC, and worked directly with openshop buyers, producers, videographers and more to build this show from scratch.
openshop is excited to provide a platform for indigenous businesses to showcase their products and talents.
From the 20th -24th January 2020, we donated directly to the families of the volunteer
firefighters Geoffrey Keaton, Andrew O’Dwyer and Samuel McPaul. 100% profits of all products
featured and sold during the Good Morning Shoppers that day went to support their families.
On January 25th 2020, we hosted a huge TV event ‘Buy from the Bush’ showcasing products from rural Australia to support those doing it tough from the drought and bushfires. This was a non-profit show and every cent went to the small businesses involved. We had an overwhelming response from rural businesses to the show. These were families in need and it was time to work together to help and to showcase some unique products from the bush.
